Hob rice pudding
MyMeals365 Tom's favourite dessert!
People often make rice pudding in the oven - and it's perfectly possible to make a decent one this way. I prefer making it on the hob, however, as you can avoid a skin from forming on the top like this - something that's not everyone's cup of tea!
Rice pudding is a great way to use up any surplus milk - and it's the perfect dessert for chillier evenings!
Ingredients
- 150g pudding rice
- 800ml semi-skimmed milk
- 4 tablespoons sugar
Method
- Add the rice, milk and sugar to a saucepan.
- Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat and simmer for around 45 minutes.
- Stir regularly to make sure the rice doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan, and add in some extra milk if it starts to get a bit dry.
- Serve hot, or leave to chill and serve cold. Add stewed fruit, raisins, a dollop of jam or some chocolate powder to taste.
